Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully. By using House Reminders, you agree to them.
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of House Reminders (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. Accounts and Access
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
3. Acceptable Use
- No illegal, infringing, or harmful content may be uploaded, stored, or shared.
- No attempts to circumvent security, probe systems, or disrupt the Service.
- No misuse of contractor ratings (e.g., fraud, impersonation, defamation).
- Respect others and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Your Content
You retain ownership of content you upload to the Service. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have the necessary rights to upload the content you submit.
Storage and Upload Limits
Your account includes the following storage and file upload limits based on your plan:
- Trial accounts: 10 MB maximum per individual file, 25 MB total storage
- Paid accounts: 50 MB maximum per individual file, 200 MB total storage
Files that exceed these limits cannot be uploaded. If you need higher storage limits for your business needs, please contact us to discuss custom solutions.
Contractor Ratings
If you choose to submit contractor ratings or reviews, you grant us permission to display and share that content with other users, including in aggregated and anonymized forms, to help users find quality contractors in their area. We may moderate or remove ratings that violate these Terms.
5. Affiliate Links
The Service may include affiliate links to retailers for parts and filters. We may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This does not affect the price you pay and does not imply endorsement.
6. Third-Party Services
You may choose to authenticate using third-party providers (e.g., Google). Your use of those services is subject to their terms. We only exchange the minimum information necessary to enable authentication.
7. AI Assistant
House Reminders includes an AI-powered assistant that can answer questions and provide suggestions about home maintenance based on your property data. By using the AI assistant, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
No Professional Advice
The AI assistant is provided for informational and convenience purposes only and does not constitute professional advice. AI responses are not a substitute for qualified professionals, including but not limited to licensed contractors, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, home inspectors, engineers, or other experts. You should always:
- Consult with licensed, qualified professionals before undertaking any maintenance, repair, or modification work, especially for electrical, plumbing, gas, structural, or other potentially hazardous systems
- Verify all AI-generated recommendations independently through professional consultation, manufacturer documentation, or authoritative sources
- Follow all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines
- Never rely solely on AI suggestions for safety-critical decisions or emergency situations
No Warranties or Guarantees
The AI assistant is provided "as is" without any warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. AI-generated responses:
- May contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information
- May not account for your specific circumstances, local conditions, or regulations
- May not reflect the latest industry standards or manufacturer recommendations
- Are based on general information and may not be applicable to your situation
- Should not be considered exhaustive or definitive
Data Processing and Third-Party AI Providers
To provide AI assistant functionality, we process your queries and relevant property data using third-party AI services (currently OpenAI). When you use the AI assistant:
- Your questions and related property information (e.g., equipment details, maintenance history) may be transmitted to and processed by our AI service providers
- AI providers may temporarily process this data to generate responses but are contractually prohibited from using it to train their models or for other purposes
- AI interactions are subject to both our Privacy Policy and the privacy policies of our AI service providers
- We retain chat history to improve the service and provide context for future interactions, which you can delete from your account
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for any actions you take based on AI assistant responses. You agree to:
- Use the AI assistant at your own risk
- Exercise independent judgment and verify all recommendations
- Not rely on AI responses for emergency situations or urgent safety matters
- Not use the AI assistant as a replacement for professional inspection, diagnosis, or consultation
- Understand that AI responses are generated automatically and not reviewed by experts
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any damages, losses, injuries, or expenses resulting from your use of or reliance on the AI assistant, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, financial loss, or any consequential, incidental, or indirect damages. This includes situations where AI responses are inaccurate, incomplete, or lead to adverse outcomes.
Emergency Situations
Do not use the AI assistant for emergencies or urgent safety situations. For gas leaks, electrical hazards, flooding, fire, structural damage, or other emergencies, immediately contact emergency services (911), utility companies, or appropriate emergency professionals.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including our trademarks, logos, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by law. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works except as expressly permitted.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that reminders will be timely or error-free.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amounts you paid in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required to do so by law. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account data subject to our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to the Service
We may modify or discontinue features from time to time. When we make material changes, we will provide notice where appropriate.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your place of residence unless mandatory law requires otherwise. Venue for disputes will be the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
14. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will notify you (e.g., by email or in-app). Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Refund Policy
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscriptions and lifetime purchases. If you are not satisfied with the Service and request a refund within 30 days of your initial subscription charge or the date of your lifetime purchase, we will refund the full amount to your original payment method. This guarantee does not apply to renewal charges, promotional credits, add-ons, usage charges, taxes, or fees imposed by third parties.
For renewal charges, we may provide a pro-rated refund upon request if you did not use the Service after the renewal date and you contact us within 7 days of the charge. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods outside these windows.
Lifetime purchases are non-refundable after the 30-day window. A lifetime purchase provides ongoing access to the Service as offered from time to time; it does not guarantee that any specific feature or integration will be available indefinitely.
To request a refund, email support@housereminders.app from your account email with the subject “Refund Request,” including your account email and the date of the charge. If a refund is approved, it may take 5-10 business days to appear, depending on your bank.
17. Cancellation Policy
You can cancel your subscription at any time in your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access until then. After cancellation, your subscription will not renew and no further charges will be made.
If you cancel during a free trial, access will end immediately and you will not be charged. If you cancel a paid plan, we do not provide refunds or credits for partial months, except as described in the Refund Policy above.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not by itself issue a refund.
18. Disputes and Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is in error, please contact us first at support@housereminders.app so we can investigate and resolve the issue quickly. Most billing issues can be resolved within 2-3 business days.
Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may delay resolution. If a chargeback is filed, we may provide evidence of the subscription, usage, and applicable policies to your card issuer. Successful chargebacks may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account to prevent further unauthorized use.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
